MOTHERS’ DAY DINE: KINSA SUSHI, HILLVIEW RISE 2, SINGAPORE
My daughter celebrated Mother’s Day during lunch yesterday to avoid the crowd. We had a meal last week by my son-in-law, for he had his mother to attend to this week. Fathers are simply too happy to tag along, without paying bills. This small Japanese restaurant at Hillview Rise was cheaper. I will suggest a la carte meals are much better than menu sets. Kagashima wagyu don, about 60 g slices, with a runny egg and rice at S25 was worthy. Steamed egg with tiny bits of foie gras, mushrooms and meat soup (frankly not really a soup at all), was another lip-smacking dish. Grilled prawn garnished with mentai (spicy meat extract) was another delight. For desserts, pomelo sorbet was excellent, but sesame dumplings was out of class and taste.
If you are worry about cholesterol, you are probably from the old school of thought by your doctors. I am more concerned about glycemic load, health and fitness, rather than biochemistry correctness.
P/S 12th May: I have been corrected that mentai is fish egg//roe, not meat; chawan mushi meant steamed egg, not soup, kinsa sushi is not a dragon and it’s not ugly.
