LES AMSI RESTAURANT, CLAYMORE ROAD, SNGAPORE.
My daughter invited us for a set luncheon menu for her mom’s birthday. S90 per person ++ for a five-course meal, plus coffee/tea, was considered reasonable by Singapore standards. It would be unreasonable for me to convert it into Malaysian ringgit, with its falling rate, for we were mere beneficiaries for this expensive luncheon. This was my second visit here; the first was few years ago.
The décor of the restaurant could not match its image of fine dinning, except its cold room storage for wine. However it’s cosy and comfortable enough. Service here was excellent, at par with Michelin stars. I would not rate the food here at par with the best in Singapore, except the bread and Le Ponclet butter(only restaurant in Asia serving it);butter was slightly salted, excellent. Daikon radish soup was smooth and licking good. The main course, French chicken, was a disappointment, for it was coarse; the Aussie wagyu steak, tenderloin grade 5, medium rare, was right, but not short of excellence.
