DOWNSHIFTED FOR A YEAR: SONNET TRANSLATION
DOWNSHIFTED FOR A YEAR: A SONNET
Downshift to a terrace for a year;
No time race and more ears here.
Enjoy morning walk in nearby park;
Talk to friends and gossip till dark.
No rush waking, no work worries;
We all care about price spiral follies.
Depleted savings are real concern;
Live and let live, let go of heartburn.
Parables of see-saw move up and down;
Destiny changes, crown deep in frown.
Wealth and success, winner we measure;
Health and aging, in winter we treasure.
When high, descend to humble ground;
Perchance to rebound, secure when sound.
I find my readers are reading my See-Saw poem for and about children I wrote in Nov. 2014..
See-saw is played only as a pair,
up and down, in turns, we share.
One must be up, the other down,
no co-operation, both are clowns.
Senseless to prolong stay in the air,
touch ground again to go high is flair.
There are limits to get high and fast,
a careful ride is safe and fun will last.
Up and down, balance of life, is fair,
give and take, high or low, is funfair.
