MALAYSIAN HAIKU/SENRYU: ECHOES 149 LONE WHISTLER
lone whistling walker
smirk with pursed lips and blowhole
show happy façade
In my regular morning walk, encounter this senior a few times. Once I greeted him, “Good morning, happy mood today.” He responded once only that he was happy all the time. Perhaps he was a self contented man, but the whistle was in non melodious mono tone. Habitual persistent public whistling is not often seen or heard these days. In my young days, my friends and I would whistle at passing damsels, but I failed in that art badly. I was inspired by the passing scene, and composed this senryu in memory of that experience.
