Thank you for commenting. Corruption (greed) has been part of humanity, begins with poverty and social connection. We all wish to succeed at cost-benefit to self and to our community. I couldn’t help wondering whether the ranking helps in its eradication, but transparency might deter some.

If by transparency you mean fear of public shame or being caught, or just simply having people know what kind of person you are, I am sure that stops a lot of that behavior. But there is still the internal thinking about it. This is harder to deal with, as a person trying to improve has to work rather than let thoughts just happen.

Yes, it can mean different things to different people. It normally means openness, accountability and scrutiny. However, not all things can be defined so clearly as you caution. I loathe to bring words like conscience, for it again varies. Thank you for alerting me.
