GOLDEN FIELD OF LUOPING, YUNAN: A SONNET

GOLDEN FIELD OF LUOPING, YUNAN: A SONNET

Sea of green plots sunbath in the valley;

Karsts scatter across fields stand as sentry.

With buzzing bees, wind waves across meadows;

River ripples, scenes shape fairy windows.

Verdant serpentine hills with farmhouses;

View on terraced peak, stony showpieces.

When canola blooms, grasp golden glitter.

Ride on bamboo raft, feel the calm wonder.

As they row, pride of irritation told;

Harken, sound of cascade capture your hold.

Tourists flock here during harvest season;

Savour Buyi cuisine in this garden.

Countryside travels offer much delight;

Return to nature, joy with clear skylight.

Note:

I have never been to Luoping, though I have visited Yunan. Michael Lai excellent pictures fascinate me, and inspire me to get some details from the web to compose this sonnet. Thanks to Michael.

    It made me think of trips I’ve taken into central Pennsylvania, a couple of hours from home. Even though the place you write about is so far away and different in many ways.

        Yes, I have seen that, when people go pumpkin picking in the fall, or want to go on hayrides or do a corn maze. All of which are popular here near the city. I do not know what the tourists would think of it if they had to plant the pumpkins or clean up after the horses.
