SINGA SLING

( 狮邦弹弓)

merloin cuisine

魚尾狮烹調

spice to small melting pot

香料添加小熔鍋

cooks crack crucible

师炉缸裂

( 陶醉 )

Note:

It is not easy to translate sling, unless you have travelled Singapore Airline and has requested a cocktail called “Singapore Sling”, a sweet delicious concoction. Singapore is really a food haven, and the food faddists best recommendation is in Singlish, “die die must eat” .   It is indeed a multicultural society , with cuisine from different cultures, a real melting pot. A broad  national identity may not be sufficient to pull all the diverse elements together. There is a search for a national idealogy, maybe a refined form cultism.  There are few open debates or discussion, and it’s easy to crack the fragile pot, not stainless steel but porcelain.
